Turkish Airlines, Türkiye’s flag carrier, has announced a major fleet expansion with a new order for 225 Boeing aircraft, reinforcing its position as a global aviation leader. The airline disclosed the deal in a statement to the Istanbul Stock Exchange, marking a significant step in its long-term growth strategy.
As part of the agreement, Turkish Airlines will purchase 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, split between the Boeing 787-9 and 787-10 models. The order includes 50 confirmed aircraft and 25 options, with deliveries scheduled between 2029 and 2034. These fuel-efficient, long-haul aircraft are designed to support the airline’s expanding international route network.
In addition, the airline has finalized negotiations for 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, including 100 firm orders and 50 optional units of the 737-8 and 737-10 MAX variants. The final order will proceed following the conclusion of talks with engine supplier CFM International.
To support this significant fleet expansion, Turkish Airlines is also in discussions with Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace for the supply of engines, spare parts, and comprehensive maintenance services for the new wide-body jets.
This announcement comes shortly after a diplomatic meeting in Washington between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and former U.S. President Donald Trump, where discussions included the potential lifting of restrictions on advanced fighter jet sales to Türkiye.
With one of the largest global flight networks, Turkish Airlines’ Boeing order aligns with its strategy to enhance capacity, fuel efficiency, and passenger experience. The airline continues to lead the region with aggressive growth plans and fleet modernization initiatives.
