iOS 26.4 update brings Playlist Playground, new emojis, and Apple Music upgrades, but Apple Intelligence features like smarter Siri are still missing
Apple has officially released the iOS 26.4 update for iPhone users, marking the fourth major upgrade since the operating system debuted in September. The update brings several new features and refinements aimed at improving user experience, although it does not include the highly anticipated Apple Intelligence capabilities.
Apple Music Gets Smarter with AI Features
One of the key highlights of the iOS 26.4 update is the enhancement of Apple Music. The new Playlist Playground feature uses artificial intelligence to generate playlists based on user prompts such as mood or activity. Additionally, a Concerts discovery tool helps users find nearby live events and discover new artists based on their listening habits.
Offline Music Recognition and Visual Upgrades
The iOS 26.4 update also introduces Offline Music Recognition, allowing users to identify songs without an internet connection. Visual improvements include full-screen backgrounds for albums and playlists, along with a new Ambient Music widget that offers quick access to curated playlists for relaxation, productivity, and sleep.
New Emojis and Accessibility Improvements
Apple has added eight new emojis, including an orca, trombone, and ballet dancer. On the accessibility front, users can now benefit from the Reduce Bright Effects setting, improved subtitle controls, and refined motion settings designed to create a smoother and more comfortable viewing experience.
Despite multiple upgrades, the absence of Apple Intelligence features—particularly a smarter Siri—remains noticeable. While the iOS 26.4 update enhances usability and personalization, users may have to wait longer for Apple’s next wave of AI-driven innovations.
