Smart Robotics raises €10M in Series A funding to expand across Europe and grow AI warehouse automation solutions for logistics and intralogistics markets
Smart Robotics, a fast-growing embodied AI company focused on warehouse operations, has secured €10 million in a Series A funding round to accelerate its expansion across Europe. The investment highlights growing demand for AI warehouse automation as logistics companies seek smarter ways to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and address labour shortages.
The funding round was led by Rotterdamse Havendraken, with participation from Innovation Industries and Dutch family office Ernij Next. The fresh capital will be used to expand Smart Robotics’ presence across new product categories while also advancing its proprietary AI-driven control layer.
A Decade of Robotics Innovation
For more than ten years, Smart Robotics has been developing advanced pick-and-place systems designed specifically for intralogistics environments. Its full-stack platform combines robotics hardware, intelligent software, and integrated services to help warehouses handle complex operations involving thousands of stock-keeping units (SKUs).
The company’s standout feature is its proprietary AI control layer, which enables robotic systems to identify, pick, and sort items with speed and precision, even in highly variable warehouse conditions. This helps logistics operators maintain accuracy while lowering failure rates and improving throughput. As a result, Smart Robotics is positioning itself as a leader in AI warehouse automation solutions across Europe.
Leadership Highlights Competitive Advantage
Heico Sandee, representing the company’s leadership, said Smart Robotics’ competitive edge comes from its combination of AI software expertise, large-scale deployment experience, and a multidisciplinary team spanning robotics, logistics, and machine learning.
He also noted that years of real-world operational data have helped the company continuously improve its AI systems. This allows Smart Robotics to outperform many traditional automation solutions that struggle with the flexibility modern warehouses require.
Rising Demand for Warehouse Automation
The timing of the funding is significant. While automation in manufacturing has matured over the years, warehouse and logistics automation remains relatively underdeveloped. However, the rapid rise of e-commerce, increasing customer expectations for faster delivery, and persistent labour shortages are pushing companies to modernize operations quickly.
Robotic pick-and-place technology is becoming especially attractive for warehouses dealing with repetitive tasks, fluctuating demand, and staffing challenges. Investors increasingly see this market as one of the next major growth opportunities in industrial technology.
Smart Robotics Eyes Bigger Market Share
With the new €10 million investment, Smart Robotics plans to scale its solutions further and strengthen its foothold in European markets. As more supply chains turn to intelligent systems, the company appears well placed to benefit from the growing shift toward AI warehouse automation.
The latest funding round signals confidence not only in Smart Robotics, but in the broader future of robotics-driven logistics, where AI is expected to play a central role in making warehouses faster, smarter, and more resilient.
