Xiaomi Tag debuts ahead of MWC 2026 with cross-platform tracking, 1-year battery life and IP67 rating, alongside UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is gearing up for a major global showcase in Barcelona on February 28, just ahead of Mobile World Congress 2026. While the spotlight will shine on the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra smartphones, the company is also expanding its ecosystem with new accessories — including the much-anticipated Xiaomi Tag and the UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000.

The global debut of the Xiaomi 17 series will take place simultaneously in international markets and India, reinforcing Xiaomi’s strategy of aligning its flagship launches worldwide. However, the Xiaomi Tag is emerging as one of the most interesting announcements from the event.

Xiaomi Tag Enters Bluetooth Tracker Market

With the launch of the Xiaomi Tag, the company officially steps into the competitive Bluetooth tracker segment currently dominated by devices like the Apple AirTag. Designed to help users keep track of essentials such as keys, wallets, and luggage, the tracker offers an affordable and cross-platform alternative.

One of the standout features of the Xiaomi Tag is its cross-platform compatibility. Unlike Apple’s ecosystem-focused tracker, Xiaomi’s solution works with Apple’s Find My network for iOS users and also integrates with Android devices through the Xiaomi Home app. This flexibility could make the Xiaomi Tag appealing to households using both Android and iOS devices.

Weighing just 10 grams, the oval-shaped tracker sports a minimalist white finish and is compact enough to slip into wallets or attach to keychains and bags. It includes a built-in speaker for audible alerts, map-based tracking, and “left behind” notifications when items move out of range. Xiaomi claims over one year of battery life, along with an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. The company also emphasizes encrypted tracking data and privacy protections to prevent misuse.

Priced at RM 79 (approximately Rs 1,900) for a single unit and RM 299 (around Rs 7,000) for a four-pack, the Xiaomi Tag undercuts many rivals in pricing, making it an attractive alternative in the Bluetooth tracking market.

UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 Unveiled

Alongside the tracker, Xiaomi will introduce the UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000. Measuring just 6mm thick and weighing 98 grams, it is positioned among the slimmest magnetic wireless power banks currently available.

The device supports up to 15W wireless charging and 22.5W wired fast charging via USB-C. Powered by a 5,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, it promises enough capacity for at least one full smartphone charge, depending on usage.

With additional launches including Redmi Buds 8 Pro, Electric Scooter 6 Ultra, and Xiaomi Watch 5, Xiaomi’s Barcelona event is shaping up to be a comprehensive ecosystem expansion beyond smartphones.
