Apple unveils the new AirTag with expanded range, louder speaker, Apple Watch support, airline tracking features, and the same pricing as before

Apple has officially introduced its latest AirTag, bringing notable upgrades aimed at making lost items easier to locate. The new version focuses on better findability through enhanced Precision Finding, stronger Bluetooth connectivity, and a louder built-in speaker, while keeping the same familiar design and pricing.

Since its debut in 2021, AirTag has become one of Apple’s bestselling accessories, helping users recover everything from misplaced keys to lost luggage. With the AirTag expanded range, Apple is doubling down on real-world usability, especially in busy environments like airports, offices, and public transport hubs.

Precision Finding Gets a Major Boost

The new AirTag is powered by Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, also used in the iPhone 17 lineup and newer Apple Watch models. This enables Precision Finding to work from up to 50 percent farther away than before. Through haptic feedback, on-screen guidance, and audio cues, users are led directly to their misplaced items.

Thanks to the AirTag expanded range, locating items is now more reliable even when they are buried deep inside bags or left behind in larger spaces. Apple has also upgraded the Bluetooth chip, further extending the distance at which an AirTag can be detected.

Apple Watch Support and Louder Audio Alerts

For the first time, Precision Finding is available on Apple Watch. Users with Apple Watch Series 9 or later, or Apple Watch Ultra 2 and above, can now track their AirTag directly from their wrist. This adds convenience when an iPhone isn’t immediately accessible.

Apple has also redesigned the internal speaker, making it 50 percent louder than the previous generation. The sound can be heard from up to twice as far, complementing the AirTag expanded range and making it easier to locate items hidden under furniture or inside luggage.

Find My Network and Airline Location Sharing

The AirTag continues to rely on Apple’s Find My network, a privacy-focused, crowdsourced system of Apple devices that helps locate items when they are out of Bluetooth range. With the AirTag expanded range, users benefit from faster detection before needing network assistance.

Apple’s Share Item Location feature allows users to temporarily share an AirTag’s location with trusted third parties such as airlines. More than 50 airlines now support this feature, helping reduce delayed and unrecoverable baggage.

Pricing, Availability, and Sustainability

The AirTag expanded range comes at no extra cost. Pricing remains INR 3,790 for a single AirTag and INR 12,900 for a four-pack, with free personalized engraving. The device supports all existing accessories and uses recycled materials in line with Apple’s environmental goals.
