In a big step ahead of the UK-based technology brand, Nothing Phone 3 has officially announced its release in India, which is the company's most important smartphone launch to date. Following months of rumors and teasers, the latest device has been launched as the company's very first true flagship, which contains major upgrades in terms of design, performance, and software.
Nothing Phone 3 launch brings a fresh approach to phone design with extreme design revamps on the back panel and numerous hardware and software enhancements. The phone retails at ₹79,999 for the 256GB model and is set to disrupt the conventional premium players such as Samsung and Apple, but adhering to Nothing's distinctive design philosophy.
A Revamped Design: Essential Key, Glyph Matrix, and More
Nothing Phone 3 maintains the minimalist aesthetic of the company but introduces several new features that are immediately apparent. One of the most obvious is the new Glyph Matrix, which is home to 489 addressable LEDs, more useful than ever before. Users are able to personalize glyphs for various notifications, charging statuses, and even app-specific notifications.
There is also an important addition in the form of the Essential Key, which is a side hardware button that is programmable. The user can set shortcuts to launch apps, turn on the flashlight, or turn on silent mode — a personalizing feature that is not usually available on mainstream smartphones.
The new camera island deviates from the conventional positions, and this allows the back panel to have a contemporary and streamlined appearance. Very narrow bezels that are only 1.87mm wide along the screen facilitate an immersive viewing experience.
Display and Performance: Flagship-Class Power
Nothing Phone 3 features a stunning 6.67-inch bendable AMOLED display with a maximum of 4500 nits of peak brightness and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate for stunning display in any environment. From gaming, streaming, to web surfing, the screen offers state-of-the-art quality with vibrant colors and deep blacks.
Internally, Nothing Phone 3 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, manufactured on a 4nm process by TSMC. The octa-core chipset is clocked at up to 3.21GHz and powered by an Adreno 825 GPU to deliver stunning graphics performance. The onboard Hexagon NPU handles AI processing aside from image optimization and intelligent power management.
Nothing promises a stunning performance jump over the previous generation, making the Phone 3 perfect for heavy gaming, multitasking, and pro-level photography.
Triple 50MP Camera System: Imaging All-Round
Cameras have been at the forefront of smartphone innovation, and Nothing Phone 3 does that beautifully in that aspect. It boasts a triple 50MP camera setup at the rear, which includes:
· A 50MP primary camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS)
· A 50MP periscope tele-lens that supports OIS
· A 50MP ultra-wide sensor
This flexible setup allows for everything from wide-angle landscape to close focus zooming. Out front is a 50MP front camera with 4K video capture and AI portrait modes.
With the new Glyph interface and red recording indicator light, users also can record content while monitoring notifications subtly — a tip of the hat to the needs of content creators.
Battery and Software: Smart Interface, Long Life
Nothing Phone 3 has a 5500mAh silicon-carbon battery, which has greater life than regular lithium-ion cells. It supports 65W wired fast charging, filling the phone to full capacity in under one hour.
On the software side, the phone uses Nothing OS 3.5 based on Android 15 and provides a bloat-free and minimalistic experience. The company also revealed Nothing OS 4.0 based on Android 16 will be out in Q3 2025. Some of the new software features are:
· Essential Space: a distraction-free working area
· Essential Search: a search box available everywhere across settings and apps
· Deep Glyph integration for app notifications, battery levels, etc
Price and Availability in India
Nothing Phone 3 will be available in two colors — White and Black. Pre-order starts on July 4, 2025, and first sale on July 15, 2025, on top e-commerce portals and select offline stores.
Priced at ₹79,999 for the 256GB variant, the phone is in the premium category but is value-for-money in the context of innovation and class-leading features.
Final Thoughts
With the Nothing Phone 3, the company makes a huge leap into the flagship segment with top-tier specs combined with its clear design and Glyph interface. For the design-conscious as well as the tech-savvy buyer, the phone can very easily be a showstopper in a market that's over-saturated.
Whether or not the Nothing Phone 3 can carve out a larger niche in opposition to Android giants remains to be seen, but its combination of power, style, and smart innovation makes it one of the most exciting smartphone launches of 2025.
