In a display of enormous ambition to broaden its backing for hospitality businesses, DoorDash has said it will acquire SevenRooms, a New York City hospitality technology company with a history of a formidable suite of hospitality CRM tools. The deal, which is slated to close in the second half of 2025, is subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
This acquisition is an extension of DoorDash's Commerce Platform, the restaurant and local business solution used to drive in-store and delivery-based revenue. With the inclusion of SevenRooms' software, DoorDash is poised to help merchants create more meaningful customer relationships, increase guest retention, and maximize long-term profitability.
SevenRooms: A Guest Experience Technology Leader
Established in 2011 by Joel Montaniel, Allison Page, and Kinesh Patel, SevenRooms is currently a leading choice provider for operators to optimize the guest experience. SevenRooms' system combines reservation management, marketing automation, and guest profiling in one smooth CRM system.
The technology is particularly prized in the restaurant and hospitality industries, where guest loyalty and customer insight are the drivers of success. They're the same opportunities DoorDash is attempting to tap into with this acquisition—arming its merchant partners with hospitality CRM tools that can fuel both marketing and service optimization.
DoorDash's Bigger Plan
Parisa Sadrzadeh, DoorDash VP of Strategy and Operations, focused on the larger context: "We're building the DoorDash Commerce Platform so that merchants can serve their customers on all channels. With SevenRooms, we're thrilled to help local businesses bring new customers into their businesses, build loyalty, and market smarter and data-driven."
This acquisition is the follow-up to other recent moves by DoorDash to transition out of a food delivery app and into a full-service commerce platform. This acquisition is not only an investment in logistics and delivery but also in technology that enhances in-app dining experiences and customer lifetime value.
Highlight Local Business and Sustainable Growth
SevenRooms CEO and co-founder Joel Montaniel described how the company was founded with an "operator-first" mindset. "We founded SevenRooms to empower hospitality operators to know their guests and drive their business sustainably," he said. "Restaurants and hotels are the pulse of neighborhoods. Our mission has always been to empower them to make each guest feel like home."
Montaniel further added that the partnership with DoorDash will allow SevenRooms to grow faster and reach more individuals. "Together, we're bringing next-generation hospitality CRM tools to even more operators around the world—empowering them to succeed in both digital and physical channels," he further added.
Global Reach and Innovation Forward
The union of SevenRooms' deep software expertise with DoorDash's scale globally will be driving innovation, according to DoorDash. DoorDash says that merchants will have access to a rich ecosystem that enables improved delivery as well as in-person guest experiences.
The firms also emphasized that they will have an "open, partner-friendly" culture—enabling merchants to integrate tools in ways that they prefer, instead of locking them in a closed system.
With SevenRooms joining the DoorDash family, the focus will be on growing the innovation roadmap, with a focus on personalized marketing, data insights, and automation—key elements of any competitive hospitality CRM tools.
