edtech and learning

Denmark-based edtech Alice.Tech, whose technology employs AI to create custom study material, has raised $4.8 million of seed capital to scale up its product. Y Combinator alumnus as of 2024, Alice.Tech wants to disrupt students' exam prep—through tailored study materials made possible by the help of artificial intelligence.

Cherry Ventures and Y Combinator also put money in the round, which saw PSV Tech and US and European angel investors also contribute. The money will be used to fuel product development and increase the footprint of Alice.Tech in schools and universities.

How Alice.Tech’s AI Platform Tailors Learning

Alice.Tech's AI platform reworks general textbooks, lecture slides, and notes into customized learning materials for each student's learning style. Organizing key concepts, producing flashcards, or generating multiple-choice quizzes, the platform adapts to what each learner needs to succeed.

"Where Duolingo did it for language, we do it for high school and college exams," said Alice.Tech's co-founder and CEO Kim Rants. "We aim at what the student needs to practice through real-time performance analysis and feedback."

A Freemium Model with Growing Demand

The company uses a freemium business model, offering free access to core functionality to students and premium plans on a monthly or annual subscription. The company is also in negotiations with institutions to offer the platform at scale, integrating it into classrooms and curricula.

Alice.Tech also has an AI platform with social learning, where students learn in real time with others. It encourages learning in groups but still offers individualized study support depending on the performance of every student.

Rants described the concept behind the product: "I saw too many students get left behind because old-school learning tools weren't designed for them. With AI, we can now design education for the student, not the other way around."

Built for the Future of EdTech

As the world rapidly shifts towards digital and hybrid learning, there is a growing need for intelligent adaptive learning platforms. Alice.Tech's AI platform is a welcome response in the new edtech landscape, providing students with more effective tools to learn more—and worry less. The successful pitch deck showed not just the technology but also its real impact: improved test scores, more confident students, and scalable adoption potential in schools worldwide.
