smart city and security infrastructure

Blink Charging Co. has partnered with Flowbird Smart City UK in a major deal, charging solely through its wholly owned subsidiary Blink Charging UK Ltd., to provide high-end EV charging solutions to NHS Property Services (NHSPS) across the United Kingdom. The project is a watershed moment for green infrastructure, as it propels the growth of electric vehicles (EVs) and helps support the UK's net zero target.

Blink Charging UK NHSPS Partnership: Pioneering Healthcare Sustainability

NHSPS manages around 3,000 properties in the UK and works closely with Integrated Care Boards, Trusts, and GP practices. Its aim is to help NHS estates be run efficiently, securely, and sustainably, freeing up healthcare professionals to focus on delivering excellent patient care.

The new deal ensures that NHSPS locations will be equipped with EV charging points so it is convenient for staff, patients, and visitors with electric vehicles. Deployment of the chargers will begin immediately and roll out across a number of NHSPS-operated sites.

Europe Managing Director at Blink Charging, Alex Calnan, explained the importance of this collaboration:

“It's a privilege to be working with NHSPS and Flowbird Smart City UK on this significant and meaningful project. This agreement represents the beginning of what we hope will be a long and fruitful relationship for all of us and will provide desperately needed EV charging solutions to housing in which NHS services are being made available throughout the UK.”

Flowbird's Part in the EV Growth

Flowbird Smart City UK provides smart infrastructure knowledge, complementing Blink Charging's technology-driven EV charging solutions. Chris Head, Regional Director of Flowbird Smart City UK and Ireland, commented:

"We are delighted to collaborate with Blink in helping NHSPS with their charging needs throughout the UK."

Blink Charging UK NHSPS partnership is not a matter of rolling out chargers—it's about designing a scalable, future-proofed network. NHSPS has been eager to highlight a balanced strategy, in unison with smart data-driven management solutions and Blink's own platform. With this integrated, there will be smooth running with the NHS Smarter Building portal, ensuring efficiency and sustainability estate-wide.

NHSPS Senior Net Zero Carbon Manager Elaine Hall also added:

"For such a large and complex estate as ours, it's fantastic to be in business with Blink Charging and Flowbird Smart City UK to assist in enabling NHSPS to build and develop an EV charging network that is scalable throughout our estate."

Why the Blink Charging UK NHSPS Partnership Matters

The collaboration is timely when the UK government is calling for the rapid electrification of transport. With the prohibition on the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles within the next decade, access to effective EV charging infrastructure is crucial.

Healthcare facilities are inherently high-traffic buildings, and thus ideal for expanding EV charging capability. Incorporating charging solutions into NHSPS facilities enables Blink Charging to ensure that vital healthcare facilities contribute to the country's environmentally friendly transportation vision.

The Blink Charging UK NHSPS joint venture also shows the company's strategy of forming long-term partnerships with developers, municipalities, and businesses. By focusing on strategic sites such as healthcare estates, Blink raises its visibility while servicing communities through affordable and sustainable energy solutions.

A Greener Future

Blink Charging UK NHSPS partnership highlights the potential for green infrastructure to enable healthcare goals. With additional EV charging being deployed at NHS locations, patients, health professionals, and visitors will benefit from greater convenience, and the NHS will be well on its way towards reaching net-zero carbon ambitions.

This alliance is another milestone in Blink Charging's mission of providing innovative, customer-focused charging solutions and expanding the UK's EV ecosystem.
