Lenskart Smart Glasses Set to Get a Tech Boost with Qualcomm
Lenskart is once again creating ripples in the tech space with its latest news. At the Snapdragon for India XR Day conference in New Delhi, Lenskart co-founder and CEO Peyush Bansal announced that Lenskart smart glasses are set to get a huge makeover. This time, the eyewear behemoth is joining hands with Qualcomm to work on a new, upgraded version of its smart eyewear—a huge foray into the wearable tech space.
Qualcomm x Lenskart: A Powerhouse Alliance
The news was announced in an informal but enlightening fireside chat by Bansal and Qualcomm India President Savi Soin. Bansal spoke very little, but he did confirm that the soon-to-be-released Lenskart smart glasses will be driven by a Snapdragon chipset. This is a massive performance and capability upgrade as Snapdragon processors are known for their part in smartphone development, AR glasses, and AI wearables.
While we're not yet sure precisely what the new specs will be capable of, the Qualcomm partnership is enough to make it clear that something serious is in the works. If Lenskart does make the leap to augmented reality (AR), we might indeed see the deployment of Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 or even more powerful AR2 Gen 1 chipsets. These are aimed at next-gen, immersive AR experiences—where digital content is unobtrusively overlaid onto the real world.
A Revolution in Smart Glasses in the Making?
Or, if the emphasis is slightly more on voice and artificial intelligence aspects, Lenskart might go for the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 platform. It is a chip that is suitable for AI-based, light-weight devices to enable voice control, on-the-go audio, and connectivity. Ring a bell? That's because it's the same sort of tech we've already seen in Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses—blending fashion and functionality.
This is not Lenskart's first dip into smart glasses. As recently as some months ago, the company introduced the Lenskart Phonic, a budget smart glasses offering, for just Rs 4,000. That featured call-taking, music listening, and talking to an AI voice assistant—albeit all through discreet speakers embedded in the frames. With seven hours of battery life, it offered a taste of the wearable tech experience at a price that wouldn't leave you out of pocket.
Why Lenskart Smart Glasses Matter
The new launch is a notch higher in ambition level. Lenskart is targeting high-end, high-tech products now that go beyond Bluetooth capability. The partnership with Qualcomm indicates smart glasses that can offer immersive experiences, advanced AI capability, or both—transcending the capabilities of ordinary glasses.
This strategic move also reflects a broader trend: the convergence of fashion and technology. Eyewear, once so historically long a functionally necessary or simply fashionable product, is increasingly being transformed as a technology platform. Apple, Meta, and Snap have made moves into this space, but Lenskart is distinct—a deep consumer eyewear knowledge foundation and distribution know-how.
With tens of millions of consumers and a strong retail presence in India and internationally, Lenskart is well-positioned to make smart glasses mainstream. Rather than looking at wearables as novelty or niche, the company appears dedicated to making them convenient, functional, and stylish.
The Road Ahead for Lenskart
Although prices, products, and release dates are not announced, it is certain that Lenskart's entry into smart glasses is only starting. As AI and AR penetrate deeper into our lives, companies that combine innovation with simplicity will power the next wave of consumer technology.
With the assistance of Qualcomm's high-performance chipsets and its own contemporary leadership in the eyewear market, Lenskart can become a global leader in the wearable technology market in the near future.
