In a move that mirrors President Donald Trump's tariff policy, NVIDIA said it will manufacture its AI supercomputers entirely in the US. The move follows Trump's threat to impose tariffs on foreign-made semiconductors imported into the US. The move puts NVIDIA at the forefront of the latest tech giants to support the tariff-fueled move towards domestic manufacturing, putting the company at the forefront of the reshoring of the semiconductor industry.

NVIDIA Texas Factory at the Center of AI Production

NVIDIA Texas factory is a key part of this aggressive strategy. "Aside from its leading manufacturing partners, the company has acquired more than a million square feet of manufacturing capacity to produce and test NVIDIA Blackwell chips in Arizona and artificial intelligence supercomputers in Texas," NVIDIA said in a press release.

The Role of Foxconn and Wistron in AI Supercomputers

NVIDIA Texas factory is one of multiple initiatives to produce NVIDIA's newest chips. Blackwell chips, specifically designed for artificial intelligence, have already started production at the Phoenix factory of TSMC, with the other factories in Texas to soon follow. NVIDIA is collaborating with Foxconn in Houston and Wistron in Dallas for the AI supercomputer production facilities. Both of these facilities will go into mass production in the next 12 to 15 months.

Securing the U.S. Supply Chain through Domestic Operations

To support the move, NVIDIA is working with Amkor and SPIL for Arizona-based packaging and testing operations. The company also approximates that in a period of four years, it will produce up to half a trillion dollars' worth of AI infrastructure in America, further solidifying the role of the NVIDIA Texas factory in defining the future of AI.

The Impact of Tariffs on NVIDIA's U.S. Manufacturing Plans

NVIDIA's aggressive plans to ramp up production in the U.S. come as the U.S. government is keeping a close eye on semiconductor imports and manufacturing. It's clear from President Trump's signals that semiconductors will be targeted with tariffs in the near term, and it's putting a spotlight on NVIDIA's plans. Under such circumstances, NVIDIA's plant in Texas is a prime location of activity in keeping America ahead of the AI race worldwide.
