C2i Semiconductors tapes out its first AI server power chip as the Bengaluru startup targets the growing global AI power management chips market

Indian semiconductor startup C2i Semiconductors has achieved a major milestone after successfully taping out its first smart power-stage chip designed for artificial intelligence servers. The Bengaluru-based fabless chip company, founded in 2024 by former Texas Instruments veterans, is now aiming to enter the fast-growing global market for advanced AI power management chips.

The newly developed chip is designed to regulate and optimize power delivery for GPUs and CPUs used inside AI servers and high-performance data centre infrastructure. As artificial intelligence workloads continue expanding rapidly, efficient power management has become one of the most critical challenges facing cloud computing and hyperscale data centre operators worldwide.

The successful tape-out confirms that the chip design is complete and ready for manufacturing validation, marking an important technical achievement for the young semiconductor company.

Focus on AI Infrastructure Growth

The demand for advanced AI power management chips has increased significantly alongside the rapid expansion of generative AI, machine learning systems, and high-performance computing platforms. AI servers consume enormous amounts of electricity, making efficient power regulation essential for reducing heat generation, improving server reliability, and lowering operational costs.

C2i Semiconductors is positioning itself within this high-growth segment by focusing specifically on smart power-stage technology capable of supporting demanding AI computing environments.

Industry experts believe power management will become one of the most important areas of semiconductor innovation over the next decade as AI infrastructure scales globally.

India’s Growing Semiconductor Ambitions

C2i operates as a fabless semiconductor company, meaning it focuses on chip design while outsourcing manufacturing to specialized fabrication facilities. This model allows startups to concentrate on innovation and product development without investing in expensive fabrication plants.

The company’s progress also highlights India’s broader ambitions to strengthen its position in the global semiconductor ecosystem. In recent years, India has seen growing investment in chip design, semiconductor research, and electronics manufacturing as the country attempts to reduce reliance on imports and build domestic technology capabilities.

With the successful tape-out of its first chip, C2i Semiconductors now plans to target global data centre operators, enterprise AI infrastructure providers, and cloud computing companies seeking efficient AI power management chips for next-generation server systems.

The development reflects the increasing role Indian semiconductor startups are beginning to play in specialized high-performance computing technologies and the global AI supply chain.
