Samsung December 2025 security update reaches Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 in South Korea with key security fixes. Global rollout expected soon
Samsung has begun the rollout of the Samsung December 2025 security update to its newest foldable phones, namely the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Initially, the rollout began in South Korea, making the two foldables the latest devices to join the Galaxy S25 series that receive this month's crucial patch.
The new software comes along with the firmware version AYKE, which confirms that the update is finally out for both foldables in Samsung’s home market. Other global regions may need to wait a bit more, as often, wider availability usually kicks in within days or weeks.
Samsung mentions that the Samsung December 2025 security update is a very crucial release for the year. As per the company, this patch fixes over five dozen security issues in different parts of the system. Among these vulnerabilities, 11 are related to Samsung's One UI software layer itself. Such patches help enhance device stability and keep users away from potential risks that might affect performance, privacy, or overall device behavior.
Galaxy Z7 series came out earlier this year with One UI 8.0 based on Android 16. Samsung claims a whopping seven years of OS and security updates for the new foldables, the same as the company’s flagship S25 lineup. While One UI 8.5 would bring various other enhancements, Samsung has since clarified that it would not count as the first major OS upgrade as it still runs on Android 16, which is essentially the same base as One UI 8.0.
Users may have noticed that Samsung was behind its usual pace in the rollout of the November patch last month, but it has since picked up. And now, with the second week of December poised to commence, it looks as though the Samsung December 2025 security update is being introduced far quicker across the Samsung portfolio than last month, with a return to the usual schedule.
Indeed, growing expectations have surrounded the One UI 8.5 Beta Program, but at this moment, Samsung seems to focus on security patches first. Because of this, it may delay the launch of the Beta. While nothing official has emerged from Samsung yet, industry sources indicate that this Monday may mark when the Beta sign-up process starts.
One UI 8.5 early access will most probably be the first for the Galaxy S25 series. It is not known whether Samsung plans to extend the Beta on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, or any other device.
Emphasizing the December 2025 Samsung security update before engaging in the Beta rollout means that the company is currently concerned with system stability. As their foldables gain traction globally, Samsung seems to want to ensure long-term reliability and security before pushing new features.
While the One UI 8.5 update has been eagerly awaited by users, the Samsung December 2025 security update is an important release with enhanced device security and software preparation for future improvements. The update is likely to very soon make its way to more regions, carrying the Samsung December 2025 security update to more users of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 around the world.
