Measat partners with Guodian Gaoke and StarWin to launch Tianqi LEO IoT in Malaysia, boosting nationwide connectivity and driving digital transformation
Measat has signed a tripartite strategic alliance with Beijing Guodian High-Tech Technology (Guodian Gaoke) and China StarWin Science & Technology to deliver Tianqi LEO IoT services in Malaysia. This groundbreaking collaboration marks a significant milestone in advancing the nation’s satellite-based Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities, supported by the Tianqi Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Constellation.
Under the agreement, Measat will serve as the authorised service provider for the Tianqi LEO IoT network, leveraging its extensive infrastructure to launch commercial services by 2026. Guodian Gaoke will provide the satellite constellation and supporting systems, while StarWin will supply certified ground terminals aligned with Malaysia’s technical and regulatory standards.
Driving Malaysia’s Digital Ambition
The announcement took place at the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2025 in Kuching, witnessed by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Abang Haji Openg.
Sarawak’s Minister of Utility and Telecommunication, Dato Sri Haji Julaihi Haji Narawi, emphasized that digital transformation—through innovations such as Tianqi LEO IoT, Big Data, and blockchain—is vital for achieving the Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint 2030.
He noted that early IoT applications in agriculture have increased productivity by 20%, boosting farmers’ income and setting the stage for broader IoT integration across sectors to raise efficiency and sustainability.
Bridging the Connectivity Gap
Yau Chyong Lim, Chief Operating Officer of Measat, said, “This alliance strengthens Measat’s multi-orbit portfolio and demonstrates our commitment to driving Malaysia’s digital growth. With Tianqi LEO IoT, we can deliver reliable data connectivity even in the most remote areas.”
He added that Tianqi LEO IoT enables applications such as flood monitoring, telemedicine, and precision farming by ensuring low-latency, low-power data transmission across Malaysia’s vast landscapes.
Guodian Gaoke’s COO, Guo Zhongjia, highlighted the collaboration as a key step toward connecting industries and communities through Tianqi LEO IoT innovation. James Li, Chairman of StarWin, reaffirmed the company’s role in delivering world-class satellite terminals that will empower Malaysians with seamless access to advanced IoT services.
