Last but not least, after all the rumor-mongering over the years, Death Stranding 2 is on the cards. Hideo Kojima's ambitious follow-up takes up where Sam Bridges left off in the 2019 Death Stranding. While the game itself is only releasing on PlayStation 5, however, lots of PC gamers are left wondering: Will Death Stranding 2 be ported to PC?
While no official confirmation has been issued, all signs point to yes. Kojima Productions has a history of releasing its signature titles on PC after a short exclusivity period on PlayStation. Not only does this increase the game's consumer base, but this also taps into a massive PC gaming market.
Looking Back: The First Port
To estimate the possibility of a Death Stranding 2 PC port, we should consider what happened to the first title. Launched in November 2019 as a PS4 exclusive game, Death Stranding saw the light of day on PC in July 2020—eight months later.
The PC version was also well-received, with improved graphics, improved frame rates, and bonus material, like fantastic crossovers with other games. It also brought the game to an entirely new generation of individuals, many of whom had never experienced the innovative, genre-defying gameplay.
This successful porting venture has provided a solid foundation for the sequel.
Will Death Stranding 2 come to PC?
So far, no official statement of a Death Stranding 2 PC release by Kojima Productions or Sony has been made. That being said, given industry practice and past precedent, it's probably a certainty. PlayStation does negotiate timed exclusivity in major titles, but they always seem to come to PC.
Both the fans and critics have the view that the same pattern will be repeated for Death Stranding 2. The game will be PS5 exclusive for some months—six to eight months—before appearing on PC platforms.
Predicted Release Date for PC
If Death Stranding 2 maintains the same timeline as the original, then a PC launch would be imminent in the first half of 2026. The February or March 2026 launch window would give PlayStation enough time to savor the exclusive sales while also giving Kojima Productions enough time to refine the game for PC players.
While this date is speculative, most insiders believe that development on the PC version is already happening in parallel with the PS5 version.
How the PC Port Makes Sense
There are some solid reasons to release a Death Stranding 2 PC port:
Market demand: PC gaming has never been more popular. To be outside this market would be folly.
Proven success: The initial PC port was a critical and commercial success, demonstrating that there's a hungry audience.
Partnerships secured: Kojima Productions had previously secured a partnership with 505 Games for the initial PC release, so a second partnership is highly probable.
In addition, PC ports typically include bonus content, improved graphics, and mod support—elements that only help to make the PC port more attractive to hardcore gamers.
Final Thoughts
While the Death Stranding 2 PC version has not been officially announced yet, all the signs are pointing in that direction. History, customer demand, and dev intent all suggest it is a matter of when, not if, Sam Bridges walks onto PC screens once again.
Gamers who wish to play on PC will have to wait until sometime early in 2026. For now, your best bet is to watch for updates from Kojima Productions.
