smart city and security infrastructure

The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Company invited Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from qualified local and foreign companies to collaborate in the redevelopment of its site. Some of the proposed projects include the development of three-star or five-star hotels, a convention centre, an office block, and a theme park. The project is a landmark step towards the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair redevelopment.

US$12 Million Investment Triggers Redevelopment Activities

ZITF has already secured a US$12 million development partner commitment for the construction of a new shopping centre. The investment shows great confidence in the future of the property and is a key milestone for the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair redevelopment. The shopping centre will be supported by other buildings to be developed, such as the convention centre and hotels, and will be part of an integrated business and leisure complex.

Prioritize Existing Firms for High-Profile Projects

ZITF is looking for companies with a minimum of 10 years' experience in handling large-scale infrastructure projects. Companies wishing to execute the project should prove high technical and financial capability. ZITF, as indicated, reserves the right to accept or reject any or all EOIs and only shortlist companies to the next level on internal evaluation criteria. Suitable companies will be able to make a contribution to a project that will determine the fate of Bulawayo.

Progress Highlight at 65th Zimbabwe International Trade Fair

During the 65th Zimbabwe International Trade Fair in Bulawayo, ZITF Company board chairman Mr. Busisa Moyo outlined the work that had been done in spearheading redevelopment to date. He emphasized that the shopping centre, as well as the soon-to-be-opened international convention centre, are the epicentre of the grand vision. These new complexes could help put Zimbabwe on the map as a destination for international business events and exhibitions.

Renamed to Zimbabwe International Conference and Exhibition Smart City (ZICES)

The vision of the grounds is to see it transform into the Zimbabwe International Conference and Exhibition Smart City (ZICES). The vision is to enhance technological advancement, green infrastructure, and urban development that is integrated. Zimbabwe International Trade Fair redevelopment forms part of the country's development to improve infrastructure and drive economic development, making the grounds a business and tourist hub for Southern Africa.

Building Bulawayo's Business and Tourism Opportunities

The new infrastructure would also enhance Bulawayo as a business and tourist hub. With a new convention center, upmarket hotels, and other recreational facilities, the city would be well-positioned to compete in international exhibitions, conferences, and tourist activities. The massive infrastructural push will bring in new investments, increase visitor arrivals, and create employment opportunities for local communities.

Theme Park to Acquire Leisure Attractions

Among the exciting additions to look forward to on the site is a theme park. Not only will this provide entertainment to the visitors and residents alike, but it will also enhance the overall attraction of the Smart City. By consolidating business districts and recreation, the redevelopment will amount to a vibrant, multi-purpose center for a wide range of audiences.

Contributing to National Goals of Sustainable Development

Zimbabwe International Trade Fair redevelopment is also aligned with a broader national vision for sustainable development, innovation, and global competitiveness. The re-use of the land of the ZITF as a Smart City is aligned with Zimbabwe's Vision 2030 plan to achieve an upper-middle-income economy via new investment and infrastructure.

Vision for the Future

Finally, the development of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair is a progressive and strategic initiative to rebrand Bulawayo and Zimbabwe as the business, trade, and tourism center of the African continent.

Already, the key investments are in place, and plans for world-class facilities are in progress, and the outlook is bright. The ZITF Company's commitment to modernization will bear long-term fruits for the economy, society, and the nation's international image.
